How to: Edgy Style

One of the last installments in the shoot I did with Linnea Paulina Photography (Here: Parts 1 and two) will be focused on achieving an edgy style. This look was achieved with only three pieces that almost all of you have in your closet!
#1: Fitted leather jacket. Fit and cut are very important!
It should be tailored to your body.
#2: Collared Blouse/ Dress. I wore a sleeveless, collared shirt dress from Nordstrom, but your options are endless here.
I really wanted a crisp, neutral basic that I could add fun accessories to.
#3: Funky Stockings: What really made this outfit a "Jade Rose" outfit were my leopard print stockings I bought in Germany. There are so many options in stores now that any outfit can be transformed by simply sliding our feet into these cozy leg sweaters... :)
#4: Throw a bold color on your lips like MAC's So Chaud or Ruby Woo (2 of my go-to's) and voila!

Jade Rose - Miss Green Eyes

Happy Monday! These next few days are leading up to a weekend full of candy and costumes. I however, will be leaving Portland next weekend to visit my fiance!! The blog is full of it's own treats this week: more photo shoots, style posts, and shoots I've been working on for other clients! Yay!
Today I wanted to show off my hair and make up from this shoot. Friend RenĂ©e
did my eye makeup and hair in an hour (!) and I loved it!
Photos by the talented Linnea Paulina Photography. I seriously recommend her! She makes you feel super comfortable in front of the camera and is super talented, obviously!

Fall Style by Jade Rose

As promised, some photos of the shoot I did with Linnea Paulina Photography and fellow blogger friend Sam Rosen.

And one of Sam and I!
My Hair and eye Make-Up by Renee Schwaab.

I used a gift card to Forever 21 to create the base of my look:
Olive pencil skirt and cream sheer blouse: Forever 21. Oxford Booties: Urban Outfitters (thrifted from Buffalo Exchange) Diamond Necklace: my great grandmothers from the 1930's. Earrings: gift from mom. Stockings: From my trip to Germany (These are cute).

DIY Pendleton Scarf

As featured on blog: All Things New. I thought I'd share my first DIY with my own readers!! Enjoy!

Supplies:  Scrap Pendleton wool- I got a 12 pound bag of Pendleton wool blanket scraps for $25.00 at the factory in Pendleton, Oregon. Best craft purchase ever!

Step 1: Lay the wool flat and cut to your desired length. (I just wrapped the wool scrap around my neck twice to get the length I wanted).

Step 2: Trim the edges of the Pendleton wool, removing fringe and other colors of wool that were attached at one point.

Step 3: Make sure you've cut off all colors and pieces of the scarf that do not belong (evenly I might add) and prepare the edges for finishing.

Step 4: Your finished edge should look similar to this, you have several options for finishing the hem of a wool scarf. You can pink the edges, hand stitch around the hem, or leave it raw as I did. (which is the easy way out ;)

And Voila!
(My youngest sis modeling the DIY!)

Blogger Friends and a Photoshoot

I attend my first Portland Bloggers meeting back in August and met some amazing women. As we bonded over confusing cameras, cute clothes, and the time consuming life of a blogger I became friends with fashion blogger Sam Rosen and photographer Linnea. We wanted to collaborate to show off all of our talents and just hang out and have fun. Sam and I each chose two outfits to style for ourselves and wear while Linnea worked her magic behind the camera. (The top photo looks exactly the same as when she showed it to me on her camera that day!) Above is one of my favorite shots (and my favorite outfit), below is a BTS  (behind the scenes) shot taken by Sam and her iPhone of Linnea doing her thing! More photos coming over the next couple of weeks!

Linnea is so talented!!

P.S.- I'll be redesigning the site and will need your feedback, so stay tuned and keep checking back!!

I'm ENGAGED!!!!   EEEEEEE *happy dance*
  My Ring, It's perfect.

I have talked about how much I miss my man here and here (we're in a long distance relationship while he's finishing his Masters) in several posts. And this weekend I got to see him for a few short hours while he surprised me by flying into town. Details will come later, but this week I am taking a week off from blogging while I soak up the dreamy experience of being proposed to by my best friend in our favorite spot.

(Our favorite lake on Mt. Hood, in a canoe)
The only pic I snapped all day in the all day proposal was the finale where he sang to me a song he had written for me and then knelt down on one knee on the canoe and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. Tears came, I said YES and now the planning begins!! I'm so excited to share the wedding planning process with all of you, be sure to follow me on Facebook for behind the scenes photos and updates as we begin our journey!!

I am so excited to be Mrs Topper.
