Holiday Capsule Wardrobe: Italy

I will be in Italy this week/ weekend to style an editorial with one of my favorite photographers form the States!! This work trip has also turned into a mini vacation as my husband will now be joining (yay!) to ring in our first year anniversary as Mr. & Mrs. We will be celebrating two weeks early in the Italian Riviera! Over this time it is also the 4th of July, so back in the States our friends and family will be celebrating with fireworks, food, and sparkly things. That is why I had to throw in my new-to-me thrifted sequin skirt from Topshop- but do I really need an excuse to wear sequins in Italy?!
Why a capsule wardrobe?
We are unable to bring carry on suitcases or luggage(!), in order to fit everything into a beach bag (giant purse I will say) I needed to make sure I could make multiple outfits out of a small amount of pieces. The Zara basic tees in neutrals will pair perfectly with my statement skirts. Less is more! Now, to decide which bathing suit to bring!! Be sure to follow me on Instagram @JadeRoseBlog for current updates and behind the scenes photos! If you do not have instagram you can view those images at this link or even my facebook fanpage which I will try to update as well!!
Textures are important even on holiday!
For a night out!
Keeping my nails neutral with "Jade Rose" by Chanel and my go-to beauty routine of tinted moisturizer and some Nars blush.
Most important accessory?! My passport ;)

#everconscioushm Kaftan and Festival Season

It's festival season in the UK, which means music lovers everywhere are heading off every weekend to the big venues full of big bands. Leeds specifically, our city in the North has a 3 day music festival every year that brings the biggest names artists in the world. We considered volunteering for this 3 day camping event extravaganza, the UK's version of Coachella, but the timing isn't working out. As I am heading off to Italy next week for "work" on behalf of Lady Evelyn, then Dublin two days later with one of my best friends from Portland and the we head to the islands of Spain for some much needed R&R after months of hand stitching a ridiculous amount of accessories. I am so excited to debut my new business Lady Evelyn with all of you, but alas, we must patiently wait! I'll be happy when I'm wearing this tunic and bathing suit in Palma ;) H&M has a ton of options right now in their conscious collections. These items are made by paying workers fair wages and practicing sustainability in production!

World Cup 2014: USA or England?!

Which team do I root for?! I'm feeling patriotic in this red, white, and blue get up. Luckily for me it works for both my home country USA and my current country of Residence, England. With World Cup 2014 in full swing, you cannot go into a shop or pub without England flags and World Cup paraphernalia everywhere! I love the camaraderie that sports games often bring, although I have yet to watch a World Cup game at a pub (how non-English of me) I plan on watching the next game, you better believe my Instagram account will show you the ridiculous amount of excitement that is keeping England in high spirits.

Travel Blog: Montpellier, South of France

The first 2 days of our extended weekend in May were spent in Montpellier, France. A little hub known for it's romanticism and close proximity to the best wine regions in all of France (quite possibly the world). If you travel to Europe at any point in your life South of France should be on your list, and not just the touristy, celebrity spotting areas of Nice and Cannes, but the regions of South of France that boast the oldest winery vines in the world. Montpellier is a great (and inexpensive) city to fly into from all of Europe and is within driving distance (1-2 hrs) to Avignon and Chateau de Papa. If wine is not your fancy, the tapas inspired by near by Spain and the Mediterranean food will satisfy most taste-buds, if all else fails they have some pretty amazing crepes ;)
What do you think?! Will you be planning a trip to the south of France?! You can't check out all of the other wonderful places we visit in the new travel gallery!

Topshop Sailor

I found this Topshop gem for Spring on eBay last week and love how it's comfy like a sweatshirt but light enough for the awkwardly cold/warm Spring weather. I love the neutral color block on the sleeves and how it's great to throw on over a "is it summer yet?!" outfit. My jacket, blouse, and high waisted shorts all sported their own statement buttons, of which I am a big fan of.
I wore this outfit for one of many walks around our neighborhood. We live in a quaint part of North Leeds where the buildings are old brick, the streets all lined with canopies of trees, and the local parks are bounty of young children. As the weather gets nicer we are finding ourselves exploring the city more and more. We have lots of cute cafes and pubs that line our little neighborhood center and I am excited to start sharing some of those with you this Summer! I think we are finally feeling settled in to our new home away from home. We moved here in the the most dreariest, rainiest of cold weather months. So to see the sunshine and greenery is a breath of fresh (and very much needed) air! Cheers to Spring!

The Oxfords above have probably been my most worn item from a thrift shop, cheers to good leather and a versatile shoe!
